ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says a man was arrested in North Carolina after connection with Orangeburg murder.
Deputies say 57-year-old Mjnari Carter of St. Matthews will be served with warrants for murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person convicted of certain crimes
Carter charges stem from the February 5 shooting death of a 58-year-old Elloree man.
Investigators went to a location near Bay Street and City Point Road in Elloree where the victim was found unresponsive.
The sheriff’s office was notified on Tuesday that Carter was apprehended in Bladen County, North Carolina.
The St. Matthews man had previously been convicted of murder in 1998.
“This individual was on parole for a previous murder charge at this time of this homicide. He knew there was an active investigation where investigators were right behind him resulting in his fleeing the state,” the sheriff states.
Carter has waived extradition out of North Carolina.
