USGS reports a 2.8 magnitude earthquake in the Midlands

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – The USGS reported a 2.8 magnitude earthquake nearly 4.5 miles from Irmo Friday night. It happened at 6:43 p.m.
According to the USGS, people living in nearby places like Lexington and Columbia could feel the quake.
Residents across the area took to social media saying they heard a “boom” and felt buildings shaking.
