AG Wilson supports Halo Act

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Attorney General Alan Wilson is supporting the Halo Act making its way in the House.

The Helping Alleviate Lawful Obstruction bill aims to enforce space and security for emergency medical care providers and first responders like law enforcement and firefighters.

It would require bystanders to remain at least 25 feet away after given a warning to back up.

Violators will be guilty of a misdemeanor, and could be fined not more than $500 and imprisoned not more than 60 days.

Wilson says this bill will, ”serve as a deterrent to those who wish to impede, cause harm to a first responder or emergency medical care provider.”
