Mortgage rates continue to climb
(CNN)– Mortgage rates in the U.S. climbed this week as investors weigh the economic impact of the war in Iran.
The average for a 30-year mortgage was at 6.8% for the week.
That’s according to a survey of lenders by Freddie Mac released Thursday, March 12.
It’s the biggest weekly increase since April, when Trump’s “liberation day” tariffs caused bond yields to spike.
Just two weeks ago, the average rate slipped below 6% for the first time since 2022.
