AAA: Hit-and-runs reach new record

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A new report from AAA reveals a frightening statistic.
15% of all reported vehicle crashes in 2023 involved a driver who fled the scene.
That’s a record high, and the number is even higher when a pedestrian or cyclist is killed.
In those cases, one in four drivers left without reporting the crash.
The motor club says most of these incidents happen when it’s dark outside and there are no witnesses.
