April recognized as Military Child Month
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– State leaders say April is The Month Of The Military Child, and a time to recognize the unique experiences faced by children of service members.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, military families move on average every two to three years, and for the kids that means attending new schools and making new friends.
It can also mean seeing one of their parents deploy for a long amount of time at a moment’s notice.
Currently, McMaster says there are 15 purple star schools across the state that are dedicated to making transitions easier for military kids through the assistance programs and staff education.
