Richland One superintendent delivers on promise to students

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland School District One Superintendent Dr. Todd Walker promised students if they read for 2.5 million minutes he would jump out of an airplane and on Thursday, April 2, 2026, he delivered on that promise.

District officials say the Pre-k through 8th grade students shattered expectations and read for more than 4.7 million minutes.

Dr. Walker says it was well worth it.

He also says he is already planning next year’s challenge and says it will be bigger and better.
