Victims identified in wrong-way collision on I-77 North Sunday

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified two victims of a wrong-way collision on I-77 North Sunday.

Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victims as Mark McCormick, 62, of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania & William Vazquez-Hernandez, 26, of Lexington, South Carolina.

According to Highway Patrol, at 4:07 a.m., a 2017 Chevy Pickup truck was driving south in the northbound lanes around mile marker 10, when it collided with a 2023 Toyota SUV heading north.

Both drivers died from their injuries.

Troopers are investigating this collision.
