SLED charges Orangeburg County woman with attempted murder
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged a 37-year-old woman with attempted murder on Tuesday, say agents.
Lacey Nicole Cushman, 37, was charged with failure to stop for a blue light – 1st offense, attempted murder, assault & battery of a high and aggravated nature, pointing and presenting firearms at a person, possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person, convicted of certain crimes – 1st offense, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Cushman is accused of fleeing at a high speed from Springfield Police during a traffic stop in the area of Highway 39 in Barnwell County on April 20, around 7:45 p.m.
She was booked into the Barnwell County Detention Center.
The SLED investigation was requested by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
