City of Columbia, United Way of the Midlands partners on car wash for homelessness cause

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Some folks in the Midlands had a chance to get a car wash and support their neighbors experiencing homelessness at the same time.

Friday, April 24, 2026, at Riverfront Park the City of Columbia and United Way of the Midlands hosted Shine for Shelter, a car wash benefit for the city’s Rapid Shelter.

Officials say all proceeds will directly support client services and initiatives that aid individuals experiencing homelessness and the dedicated service providers who support them.

Columbia’s Rapid Shelter has been in operation since November of 2022.
