SUMTER, SC (WOLO) – A man wanted for attempted murder and considered armed and dangerous, turned himself into Sumter County deputies Thursday.
Authorities say Byron Lyons, 25, is now charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
According to investigators, on Monday, Lyons is accused of shooting an 18-year-old victim and leaving the scene.
As bystanders tried to help him, Lyons returned to fire more shots toward the victim, but no one was struck.
Deputies say the victim is recovering at a local hospital.
Lyons is scheduled to have a hearing 2 p.m. today at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
