SC lawmakers gather at State House to draw attention to protecting children from digital dangers
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– This morning, Tues, May 12, 2026, SC lawmakers and advocates gathered to draw attention to several legislative efforts aimed at strengthening protections for families and children from risks posed by artificial intelligence and addictive social media.
Supporters say the efforts will provided much needed safe guards.
The only law on the books in South Carolina related to Ai is one that makes licensed real estate professionals responsible for any and all work product produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
