Prisma Health medical officials monitoring Hantavirus

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Medical officials say they are keeping an eye on Hantavirus.

Prisma Health officials met with the media this afternoon, Tues, May 12, 2026.

Infectious disease expert Dr. Helmut Albrecht says the risk to public health both here in South Carolina and across the country is low.

Officials say none of the affected passengers are from South Carolina, one was from North Carolina.
