FDA warns about tobacco products packaged like candy

(CNN)– The Food and Drug Administration is warning about tobacco products designed to look like candy.

The agency sent letters to eight retailers it says are selling the unauthorized products.

It specifically mentioned items that mimic the packaging of well-known candy as well as breath strip and cough drop brands.

While none of the items actually contain tobacco, they do have high levels of nicotine.

That’s an addictive stimulant found in tobacco that carries health risks though it is not a carcinogen.
