Sheriff Ravenell says 24-year-old Jaylen Staley has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and one count of discharging a weapon into a dwelling.
Staley’s charges stem from an incident in which a Norway Road home was fired on from a vehicle that had come to a stop in front of the home.
The home was occupied by four people at the time of the shooting around 4:45 p.m. on April 25, say deputies.
“This individual didn’t have an ounce of concern for anyone in or even near this home,” the sheriff says. “One of those who was inside was a six-month-old infant.”
Staley was taken into custody Wednesday morning, May 28, at an Orangeburg home by law enforcement with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, Orangeburg Department of Public Safety, the US Marshals Service, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
