How does screen time affect kids?

(CNN)– Experts are sounding the alarm about kids and screen time warning that it could be decades before we know how it affects their development.

The review was published Tuesday, June 2, in the journal Brain health.

Researchers say childhood is a critical window for learning, social development and building skills that can last a lifetime.

The review introduces the concept of Criticome, the idea that experiences from birth through young adulthood help determine who we become.

Experts say heavy screen use may replace activities that build social, motor, and language skills.

And they warn that some of those impacts cannot be reversed.
