SCEMD took part in governor’s hurricane tabletop exercise

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Emergency Management Division and other agencies took part in the governor’s hurricane tabletop exercise Friday.

The purpose is to test and practice emergency operations plans before a hurricane threatens South Carolina.

The 2026 hurricane season officially began on June 1, and though forecasters are calling for a less active season emergency managers and meteorologists are urging residents not to let their guard down.

Governor McMaster says he believes the state is ready.
