Henry McMaster Jr. ends speculation about being a potential Evette running mate

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – After a week of speculation following a social media post by President Donald Trump, it appears Henry McMaster Jr. will not be Lt. Governor Pamela Evette’s running mate in her bid to become South Carolina’s next governor.
Late Friday afternoon, Governor Henry McMaster’s son posted on X about President Trump’s mentioning him as possibly being Evette’s pick for lieutenant governor when the President endorsed her last week.
In the post, McMaster Jr. said, “I’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from friends, neighbors, colleagues, and even strangers encouraging me to run for public office, but now is simply not the right time for me to be considered for Lieutenant Governor. I am Team Evette all the way, and Pamela will be a fantastic governor.
