Americans to spend more for less on July 4th food

(CNN)– Americans will be spending more on food this Fourth of July, but getting less.

A National Retail Federation survey shows consumers expect to spend $94.41 on grub for holiday celebrations.

That’s a record, up about $2 dollars over last year.

It’s a 2% increase while the price of food has gone up more than 3%.

The jump is even higher for people grilling burgers or hot dogs as beef prices have spiked nearly 16%.
