Driver dead following collision involving multiple vehicles

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A driver is dead following a collision involving multiple vehicles Sunday in Newberry County.

It happened on I-26 east at mile marker 88 at 7:40 p.m.

According to troopers, a 2017 Toyota Camry had stopped, and a 2025 International box truck was slowing for traffic when a third vehicle, a 2025 Nissan Sentra rear-ended the box truck causing it to hit the Camry.

Troopers say the Nissan driver died at the scene, the other drivers were not hurt.

The Newberry County coroner’s office has not yet released the victim’s identity.
