Study: social media child safety not working

(CNN)– A majority of child safety features on many major social media sites are not working as advertised.

That’s according to a new study by the Cybersecurity Research Center.

It looked at dozens of safety features on Tik Tok, SNAP, Instagram, SNAP, and Youtube.

It concluded that almost 60% of the time those child safety features either don’t work or kids wouldn’t realistically find and use them.

SNAP, Youtube and Instagram dispute the study’s findings.

They say the study did not correspond to how kids or teens typically use those platforms.
