America 250: Making the American flag in South Carolina
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — When you drive down any neighborhood street, pass by a school or government building, or head to the ballpark, you will likely see American flags flying from several homes or flag poles. And there’s a good chance the flags you see or display at your home are made right here in South Carolina.
As part of ABC Columbia’s America 250 series, Kelly Coakley recently spent time at two of Valley Forge Flag’s South Carolina manufacturing facilities — one in Lane and one in Kingstree. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania, established operations in the Palmetto State 35 years ago. From the moment you enter one of the SC plants, it’s clear the employees take great pride in making American flags here and being part of the company’s history that touches some of our nation’s most important moments.
