Dems Allege More Haley Ethics Violations

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — There are new allegations of ethics violations leveled at Governor Nikki Haley by the South Carolina Democratic Party. “Why does this governor have such a problem with her ethics reports?” asked State Democratic Party Chairman, Jaime Harrison at a press briefing today. That’s the question he and other democrats say they want the governor to answer immediately. They point to missteps during her three and a half year administration, they say, amount to a pattern of unethical behavior. “Just like with the hacking, the TB outbreak in Greenwood and the current scandals with DSS, Nikki Haley acts like the rules don’t apply to her,” said Harrison. Harrison says they have two major complaints of violations: One, contributions in excess of the legal state limit of $3,500 per donor and Two, not listing occupations of said donors. Both are required by state law. We showed the democrats’ allegations to state GOP Chairman Matt Moore to get answers. “I can’t speak to that specifically, but I can say Gov. Haley does everything in her power to make sure every bit of info on reports is correct,” said Moore. Moore claims the democrats are playing “political theater” with their accusations. “I think the staff of democrats said ‘let’s have a press conference and throw things at the wall and see what fits.'” However, democrats say this is a repeat performance by the governor. Last July, she was fined some $10,000 and issued a public warning by the State Ethics Commission for incomplete information on her ethics reports.
