Fairfield County Coroner identifies passenger after Sunday vehicle incident

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill has identified the passenger that died in a vehicle incident in the early hours of Sunday, says the coroner’s office.

Coroner Hill confirms that 31-year-old Daniel DeMaio, of Blackstock, was the passenger of a vehicle that was traveling on Hwy 21 N. in Ridgeway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went off of the roadway down an embankment striking numerous trees on July 5.

DeMaio was partially ejected from the vehicle and had to extricated with the help of rescue squad members and fire service.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

An autopsy will be scheduled at a later date and time.
