COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – After naming its next president in May, Clemson University announced Monday that the selected candidate is keeping his current job.

According to the university, the Board of Trustees was notified that Kevin Guskiewicz has decided to continue as the president of Michigan State University for personal reasons.

Clemson says that national search had a robust pool of candidates, and that the board will meet soon to determine next steps.

Guskiewicz would have replaced Jim Clements who retired from his role as Clemson’s president at the end of 2025.
