Last minute decision wins Midlands woman $500,000
COLUBMIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Midlands woman was buying a lottery ticket for someone else, when she decided to get one for herself and won, said lottery officials.
“I was speechless,” she said.
She told lottery officials she was getting a scratch-off for her dad at the Quick Corner #2 on Broad Street in Sumter when she took a chance on a $10 lottery ticket.
“Wow!” was her reaction to scratching off a half-a-million-dollar prize.
She says her dad was just as surprised by the win and happy for her.
“I won, but my family won too,” she said.
The odds of winning $500,000 in the Cash Money game are 1 in 1,560,000.
Two more top prizes remain in the game, according to SC Lottery officials.
