Students taken to hospital after school bus crashes into home

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Some Orangeburg County students have been taken a local hospital after a school bus with 42 students crashed, says district officials.

According to SC Highway Patrol, around 8:30 a.m. a 2023 Thomas bus was traveling west on Shillings Bridge Road, and attempted to make a left onto Mill Branch Road.

When the bus turned onto Mill Branch Road, it ran off the road to the left side, and hit a house.

Orangeburg County School District says the bus was carrying 42 students at the time of the crash.

The bus driver and 18 students were taken to MUSC Health Orangeburg for further evaluation.

The remaining students were taken to school, where they were assessed by the school nurse, says OCSD.

All of the students who were taken to the MUSC Health Orangeburg have been released to their parents/guardians.
