Tariff refunds boost Target earnings

(CNN)– Target says its turnaround is picking up steam.

The retailer posted growth for the second consecutive quarter.

Net sales grew 5.3% over last year.

Target also got nearly a billion dollars from the federal government in the form of tariff refunds.

Sales growth was seen in all six of the chain’s major categories though it was weakest in apparel and home goods.

Target lowered prices on more than 10,000 items and is planning more.
