The man dropped by the Quick Serve on South Lake Drive in Lexington on the morning of July 4, got a $10 scratch-off to go.

The ticket surprised him with a quarter-of-a-million-dollar payday.

“It was fabulous,” the winner told South Carolina Education officials this week. “I felt so lucky.”

The lottery winner told officials the win gives him a nice feeling of security.

The odds of winning $500,000 in the Gold Vault Extra Play! game are 1 in 1,176,000.

Two more top prizes remain in the game.
