State officials give update on Carolina Crossroads Project

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– State and federal transportations were on hand Wednesday, August 26, for an update on the Carolina Crossroads Project.

The project surrounding the intersection of I-20 and I-26, also known as Malfunction Junction is in phase Three-C which officials say includes the widening of I-20 and bridge replacement.

Officials say drivers will ultimately see improved safety and reduced congestion in the area.

Construction on the Carolina Crossroads Project began in 2021, SC Department of Transportation officials say it will be complete in the mid 2030’s.
