Physical altercation at high school led to pepper spray exposure for students

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A physical altercation at A.C. Flora High School led to students being exposed to pepper spray Thursday, say deputies.

RCSD says on August 27, around 12:30 p.m., the school resource officer at A.C. Flora High School was notified that a fight had broken out in the outdoor courtyard.

When the SRO responded to the area, he saw multiple students in a physical altercation.

The SRO then used pepper spray to control the situation and separate the students.

Richland Co. Sheriff’s Department says 8 students were exposed to the spray.

Once the situation was under control, deputies initiated decontamination and EMS responded to assist, according to the sheriff’s dept.

A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old have been charged with affray.

Both teens were released to their parents.
