Former teacher charged with child sex crimes, HIV exposure released on bond
(WPDE) — A former South Carolina teacher facing multiple child sex crime charges and two counts of exposing others to HIV has been released from jail on bond.

ABC 15 has been told his bond was set at $200,000.
Marion County Detention Center records show Eric Marshall Favor Jr., 29, of Columbia, was released this week.
Favor had been held at the Marion County Detention Center following his arrest earlier this year.
He initially faced charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, promoting prostitution of a minor and criminal conspiracy. He was later charged with two counts of exposing another person to HIV.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office previously said the charges stem from an extensive investigation that began in 2024 and involves two minor victims.
According to deputies, the two criminal sexual conduct charges involve victims younger than 16.
Favor had previously been denied bond and remained jailed for more than six months before his release this week.
At the time of his arrest, Favor was a social studies teacher with Richland County School District One. District officials said he resigned the same day he was arrested.
He previously taught at Johnakin Middle School in Marion County.
The South Carolina State Board of Education suspended Favor’s educator certificate in March following his arrest.
The South Carolina Department of Education said at the time that the serious nature of the allegations gave officials reason to believe Favor could pose a threat to the health, safety and welfare of students under his instruction. His certificate was suspended pending a hearing or other resolution of the matter.
A trial date has not been set.
A relative of Favor contacted ABC 15 with concerns about our previous coverage, saying the full story has not been shared.
