Funeral underway for Columbia Police officer
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Funeral services are underway for a Columbia Police officer killed in the line of duty.
Officer Chris Delong’s funeral is taking place at Riverland Hills Baptist Church.
On Saturday, Officer Delong and Officer David Dymock were involved in a shootout with 33-year-old Adam Dowdy at Southeast Park.
Officer Delong died from his injuries at 29-years-old.
Governor McMaster requested that flags over state buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of the late officer’s service on Friday, Sept. 4.
The suspect also died.
Officer Dymock was injured and has since been released from the hospital.
