Midlands Mother Charged with Homicide by Child Abuse

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– A Midlands mother is now charged with Homicide by Child Abuse. Sheriff Leon Lott says Jennifer Coles was originally arrested after it was determined that she was given specific directions by doctors that her son must wear a monitor 24 hours a day. According to Lott, Coles had not placed the monitor, which was the child’s lifeline, on the infant for nearly a month. Investigators say they have since learned that the baby was also not given proper prescribed medications. Deputies say Coles turned herself in Monday afternoon.
