Students at Irmo High School recognize Suicide Prevention Month
IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– Students at Irmo High School are supporting their classmates who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.
Officials at Lexington Richland District Five say students are recognizing Suicide Prevention Month with a series of activities designed to increase student awareness of suicide prevention, mental health resources, and ways students can support peers who may be struggling.
According to the National Alliance on MentalIllness, 20% of high school students report serious thoughts about suicide, while 9% report a suicide attempt.
