Handsoap distributed to SC recalled over potential bacterial contamination

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– According to a recent report from the Food and Drug Administration, there has been a recall of nearly 2,700 cases of hand soaps.

The recall has been categorized as a Class II.

The recall which was first initiated in June by the St. Louis-based Intercon Chemical Co., concerns six different varieties of soap which were distributed largely to wholesale outlets across 15 states.

South Carolina is one of the states affected by the recall.

An enforcement report published by the FDA indicates all six of the soaps were potentially contaminated with bacteria.

The affected products include specific lots of the following soap varieties:

1. Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe, in 28.7-ounce containers
2. Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe, in 34-ounce containers
3. Summit 150 Foaming Hand Soap, in 28.7-ounce containers
4. Vestis Foaming Hand Soap, Fresh Pear Scent, in 33.8-ounce containers
5. Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap, in 8-ounce containers
6. Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap With Moisturizers, 7.5-ounce containers
