Update: Man accused of duping victim out of money as contractor arrested

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) – The Columbia Police Department says they have arrested and charged a 51-year-old man accused of swindling a victim out of thousands of dollars in connection with a phony home construction project.
Police say Toddrick Jenkins, 51, turned himself in to authorities and charged with obtaining goods under false pretenses.
Investigators say Jenkins told the victim he was licensed to build homes and asked for a total of $75,000.
The victim paid the money in installments but Jenkins allegedly didn’t do any of the agreed upon construction, except digging a hole in the victim’s backyard.
Authorities say the victim ended up having to find another licensed contractor and pay 30 thousand dollars to in order for them to correct the work allegedly done by Jenkins.
Including fixing damaged caused to the property from incorrectly digging on the grounds.
Jenkins is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
