US marshals arrest SC murder suspects in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Three people charged with murder in South Carolina have been arrested by U.S. marshals in Asheville.

Pickens County Sheriff David Stone says Tavish Yeargin (YEER’-ghin), Kayla Williams and Nyia (NYE’-uh) Utsey were arrested Wednesday night in a motel room. The three are scheduled to be at an extradition hearing Thursday.

South Carolina police had been searching for Yeargin. Officers accuse him of shooting 48-year-old Sean Dinneen at the parking lot of Crosswell Baptist Church in Easley, S.C., earlier this month. Yeargin is also accused of robbing a bank in Spartanburg, S.C.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for the two women arrested with Yeargin. Police say the trio murdered Dinneen and stole his car, which was later recovered.

It could not be immediately determined Thursday if the three have lawyers.
