Senator Tim Scott proposing bill to bring film production back to America

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– U.S. Senator Tim Scott says he’s proposing a bill that will bring film production back to America, and provide a benefit to South Carolinians working in the industry.

Wednesday morning, September 30, Scott held a press conference in Washington D.C. to announce the “Motion Picture Television and Entertainment Revitalization Act.”

The bill would establish a 20% base tax credit for qualifying film, television, and visual effects projects that are produced in the United States.

This would include the over 7,000 South Carolinians who work in the industry.

Some of those jobs include caterers, make-up artists, and camera operators.

Scott says for a project to qualify for the tax incentive, 75% of the film must be made in America.
