Elementary school placed on brief lockout after domestic-related shooting in area
SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter Police officers are investigating an early morning domestic-related shooting, say police.
The shooting happened on Thursday morning, October 8, after 7:45 a.m. at a Cheyne Street home.
A 35 year-old man is in custody and a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital, says Sumter PD.
Her condition is not available at this moment.
No other injuries were reported.
As a precaution, Lemira Elementary School was placed on a brief lockout as officers responded.
