Gas prices above $4 a gallon for 166 days

(CNN)– Gas prices have hit a grim milestone for the year.

They’ve been at or above $4 a gallon more days than any other year in history.

The previous record was 158 days, set in 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine.

AAA data shows Wednesday, October 14, is the 166th day this year that gasoline has averaged at least $4 a gallon.

Gasbuddy’s data is a little different, but still says the record was broken Tuesday, October 13.

One nice thing is we’re still a way off from setting a record high.

That was done in 2022, when gas prices peaked at $5.02.
