CRFD 3rd shift crews control Ray Kelly Road house fire

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Late Friday morning 3rd shift crews were called out to Ray Kelly Road after getting reports of a house fire, says Columbia-Richland Fire Dept.

Upon arrival, crews found smoke pushing from the eaves of the home indicating a fire in the attic area.

Engine companies quickly deployed handlines into the home and began attacking the fire from below.

As the engine company advanced the interior attack, a ladder company performed vertical ventilation to coordinate with the interior crews and improve conditions within the structure, says CRFD.

Firefighters were able to locate and extinguish a well-advanced attic fire, and prevent further extension of the fire throughout the home.

Due to the location of the incident and the need for a sustained water supply, an engine company was assigned to a remote water point, where tankers established a shuttle operation to transport water to the scene.
