4 teens arrested in connection with fatal Pomaria shooting

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster says four teens have been arrested in connection with a Friday night fatal shooting in Pomaria.

The investigation began after Newberry County 911 received a call reporting multiple shots fired near the intersection of Holloway and Folk Streets in Pomaria, South Carolina.

A short time later, additional calls were received concerning a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire a short distance from the original location, say deputies.

Responding deputies and first responders located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim succumbed to those injuries, while the second victim was taken by medical helicopter to an area trauma center.

Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece identified the deceased victim as Tyler L. Austin, 19, of Newberry.

An autopsy is expected to be performed early next week to assist in determining the cause of death, according to the sheriff’s office.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, the following four individuals have been arrested and charged with murder:
  • Dakerian Lytrell Greenwood, 18, of Pomaria
  • Jayden Gallman, 18, of Prosperity
  • Kaevion Xydarius Eigner, 17, of Newberry
  • Montieth Brown, 18, of Prosperity
Because the charges involve murder, bond will be determined by a circuit court judge, says the Newberry Co. Sheriff’s Office.
