Pearce Hits 5th HR, Helps O’s Beat Rays

(WOLO) — Former Gamecock Steve Pearce set a new career high for home runs in a season and helped Baltimore beat Tampa Bay 7-5 Tuesday night in St. Petersburg, FL. The Orioles designated hitter clocked a 2-run home run in the 7th inning. It was his fifth home run of the season. Pearce also hit his 7th double of the season in the game. He is hitting .317 on the season with 5 home runs and 14 RBI. Tuesday night’s home run was the 21st of Pearce’s MLB career. Pearce hit 21 home runs in both of his seasons at USC (2005 & 06). Pearce is in his 8th MLB season and has played with the Pirates, Yankees and Astros.
