Police make arrests in missing West Columbia woman’s case

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Police say the case of a missing West Columbia woman has turned into a murder investigation and the suspects at the center of it – her husband and son. Officers arrested 73-year-old Marion Wilkes and 23-year-old Joseph Wilkes. They’re currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing. In addition to a count of murder, Marion is also facing a drug charge. Officers have been on the look-out for Susan Wilkes. A report originally claimed the 59-year-old was last seen leaving for her daily, morning walk last week in the Westover Acres subdivision. Again, we are waiting to hear from police as to why this case shifted from a missing person to a murder investigation. Officers are expected to provide us with more information later Thursday. We will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest developments.
