Race for Lexington Coroner Leads to Run Off

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., — 7 Separate candidates all vying for the position that was left vacant by longtime county coroner Harry Harman who served the Lexington County Department for more than 30 years before passing away in April. But after a Primary Election, Run off and now Special Election voter turnout was very low. some of the nearly 100 precincts reporting no votes at all tonight. Some people did come out and those who did put two of those candidates in front. With about 97 percent of the polls reporting – it appears Margaret Fisher who walked away with 25.1 percent of the vote and Brian Seatree who came very close with 24.72 percent of the vote will now have a run off for the position they’ll serve in for 4 years. And voters will make sure whoever wins will earn their salary of more than 80 thousand dollars mainly because of the responsibilities it comes with. According to the county website some of the most important duties include a quote: “commitment to determine the cause and manner of death in a dignified manner while maintaining respect for the families.” Fisher and Setree both vowing to pick up where Harman left off overseeing a department that will be able to conduct investigations rapidly and respond to help effectively.
