Busy travel weekend in store for South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Many people are getting ready to celebrate the holiday with family and friends. You’ll have plenty of company on the road. Triple AAA is predicting nearly half a million South Carolinians will drive to their Fourth of July destinations. It’s the highest number in 13-years. Even though gas prices have reached their highest level since 2008, you won’t be paying as much for it here. We have some of the lowest gas prices in the country. There will be another set of eyes on the road, watching you. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is increasing its presence around the state. Troopers say the goal is to prevent crashes, deaths and injuries during the long holiday weekend. It officially started Thursday night at 6 and runs through midnight Sunday. that is a total of 78-hours.
