Roth returns to the majors

(WOLO) — Former Gamecock LHP Michael Roth is back in the majors after being called up to the LA Angels from Double-A Saturday. Roth has been playing for the Arkansas Travelers, a double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, with a 2.40 ERA. Roth made his first major league appearance against the Houston Astros in April of 2013 and pitched two innings of hitless, scoreless relief in the Angels’ win. The 24-year old was designated for assignment by the Angels on April 27, 2014, and out-righted to the Travelers on May 1. The Angels selected Roth in the 9th round (297th overall) of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.
