350 Border Children Brought to S.C.

A new report shows that 350 children caught trying to the cross the Mexican border into the U.S. have been sent to live with relatives or other sponsors in South Carolina. The report cites safety concerns as the reason it does not say who the children are or where in South Carolina they have been sent. The children will stay with the sponsor until their immigration case is called. South Carolina’s 350 refugees is small compared to neighboring states, such as North Carolina (1,191) and Georgia (1,154). In total, more than 30,000 children were sent to sponsor homes from January 1 to July 7 of this year.
