SC group helping recycle old, unused electronics

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina group is helping Richland and Lexington county residents recycle electronics and shred old documents.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful is teaming up with Pratt recycling and YP cares on Saturday for an electronics waste recycling and shred event at Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Co. in Columbia.

Organizers say they’ll accept anything from computers to televisions, copiers and fax machines. They will also recycle VCRs and DVD players, as well as cellphones and household electronics like stereos, radios and gaming systems.

Anything with a refrigeration unit or Freon will not be accepted.
